About this role
The Hotel Housekeeping Supervisor directs all housekeeping operations to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for guests. This role supervises personnel, maintains high cleanliness standards, and coordinates with other departments like front desk. It establishes standards for safety, chemicals, cleaning, and storage.
Daily duties include planning work schedules within budgeted labor guidelines, inspecting guestrooms, and assisting with cleaning or laundry as needed. Monitors chemical systems and cleaning procedures for cost control while maintaining MSDS sheets and educating staff on safety protocols. Communicates room status updates to front desk and ensures quick resolution of guest concerns.
Supervises 10-30 employees in the Housekeeping Department, handling interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisals, and addressing complaints. Inspects property conditions like carpets, drapes, and furniture, planning deep cleans and submitting repair recommendations to management. Manages inventory, purchases supplies, and secures lost and found items.
Investigates new cleaning methods and instruments to improve efficiency. Follows all KHC policies on dress code, safety, and performance standards. Offers paid training, PTO, and discounts at Kinseth hotels and restaurants for growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or twist regularly
- Ability to use hands to handle, grasp or type and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Specific vision abilities required including close vision and ability to identify colors
- Knowledge of safety protocols, MSDS sheets, and proper chemical usage
- Experience inspecting rooms, property conditions, and planning deep cleaning schedules
- Supervisory skills for interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising 10-30 housekeeping staff
- Organizational skills for scheduling, inventory management, and cost control
Responsibilities
- Establishes standards and procedures for housekeeping and laundry staff including safety, usage of chemicals, cleaning, and storage
- Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service and within budgeted labor guidelines
- Monitors chemical systems and usage of laundry and cleaning procedures to ensure cost control
- Inspects hotel guestrooms daily and assists in cleaning or laundry as needed
- Communicates regularly with Front Desk on status of room inventory and updates front desk system
- Ensures guest satisfaction through quick attention to questions, concerns or problems
- Inventories and purchases supplies and equipment per purchasing guidelines and budget
- Inventories, secures and manages guest lost and found
