About this role
We are recruiting for a Banqueting Manager to join the award-winning Food & Beverage team at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa. This is one of Scotland's leading 5-star hotels with the largest banqueting and meeting facilities in Edinburgh, capacity up to 500, plus One Square Restaurant and bar.
Effectively monitor daily operations of the Banqueting Department, providing support and guidance to associates for successful operations and positive guest experiences. Review all written communications like daily event orders to determine staffing levels, room assignments, décor, and enhancements. Communicate changes across departments and make adjustments accordingly.
Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring convention specifications are communicated and executed by all hotel departments for successful meeting experiences. Oversee appropriate and timely setups of functions and meetings, upholding food, beverage, and meeting standards. Keep constant communication with the Events Team regarding clients.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and quality standards using a continuous improvement approach for high-quality, cost-effective operations. Implement training plans to ensure high presentation and customer service from banquet staff. Manage inventory, coach associates, monitor opening/closing procedures, and handle scheduling for payroll control.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience within a large volume F&B/Banqueting Department within a 5 star environment
- Supervisory/management experience required
- Energetic, passionate, self-motivated
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Well developed computer skills and ability to analyze and prepare data/figures
- Working knowledge of types of room set-ups, capacities, relation to type of event
Responsibilities
- Review all written communication including daily/weekly banqueting event orders to determine staffing levels, room/station assignments, décor and enhancements, and communicate changes

- Develop and implement a training plan to ensure high quality presentation and customer service within banquet staff
- Manage the inventory and control of facilities/equipment
- Train and coach all direct reports and associates to maintain high service levels
- Monitor opening and closing procedures for banqueting supervisors/lead servers to maintain standards of all banqueting rooms
- Handle monthly scheduling/forecasting for payroll/expenses to stay within parameters
