About this role

The Facilities Maintenance Technician operates and maintains Waste Water treatment and building HVAC systems. Responsibilities include maintaining Compressor systems and Chilled Water systems to ensure reliable facility operations. This role supports overall infrastructure integrity at GKN Automotive.

Daily tasks involve repairing and maintaining Building Electrical systems and Plumbing systems. Technicians respond to emergency repair requests and assist with equipment relocation and installation. Documentation occurs in the work order system while sourcing parts via manuals and SAP.

Safety is paramount: understand and comply with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) procedures. Employ required safety guards, devices, Authorized Lockout/Tagout, and confined space entry programs. Set examples in compliance and drive continuous improvement in quality and safety.

Report issues affecting Environment, Health, Safety or Quality to managers promptly. Position is primarily first shift but requires occasional extended hours or off-shift work. Physical demands include standing long periods, lifting over 40lbs, and working collaboratively.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Courses and certifications in industrial or mechanical technologies
  • Post-secondary technical training or maintenance mechanic training
  • Equivalent combination of education and on-the-job experience
  • Excellent communication and motor skills
  • Hand dexterity and ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, and move/push +40lbs
  • Good or corrected vision and hearing
