About this role

The Engineer ensures the property is maintained in the best possible condition at all times with the least amount of inconvenience to guests and associates. Daily tasks include conducting room inspections, installing or repairing sheet rock, painting areas, and handling basic electrical fixtures like switches and bulbs. Responsibilities extend to minor plumbing, HVAC pump repairs, tracing water lines, and troubleshooting kitchen equipment.

The role emphasizes guest satisfaction, tracking scores to improve departmental performance, and complying with local, state, and federal codes. Safe work habits are essential, including wearing protective equipment and following MSDS and OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required
  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Conduct room inspections and identify repair needs
  • Install or repair sheet rock and other wall coverings
  • Paint designated areas and items
  • Install and replace basic electrical fixtures, light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs
  • Perform minor plumbing functions
  • Replace and repair heating and cooling pumps and perform preventative maintenance
  • Trace and repair all types of water lines
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment
