The General Manager supervises facility operations efficiently to produce the highest sales volume and profit while maintaining high public satisfaction, confidence, and prestige in hotel service and quality. Day-to-day involves supervising and participating in hotel operations to meet sales and profit targets, dealing with guests, potential guests, and community leaders. Maintain the highest ethical standards of operation, quality of services, and facilities. Ensure good working relationships with the Food and Beverage Department through open communications and hands-on participation.

Oversee maintenance of quality standards for guest room cleanliness, function room setups, public areas, facilities, service, and employee performance, including inspecting at least 10 rooms per week. Select and train department heads, inform them of policies, observe performance, delegate responsibilities, and assist in improvements. Direct scheduled internal meetings on sales, forecasting, quality control, and safety.

Prepare timely reports, analyze data, and develop strategies to improve performance. Study employee work assignments to establish staffing guides, monitor payroll, and approve overtime. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Preferably two-year business degree or four-year business or liberal arts degree
  • Occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the-job training, and experience in hotel skill level and management positions
  • Certified Hospitality Administrator designation preferred
  • Experience supervising hotel operations and staff to achieve sales and profit goals
  • Proven ability to maintain quality standards and ethical operations in hospitality
