The Hotel Maintenance/Custodian maintains the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of the hotel property, including interior and exterior areas, to meet company and brand standards. This role handles maintenance requests and performs detailed cleaning tasks. It ensures the property remains welcoming for guests.

Day-to-day duties include processing maintenance requests from front desk and management timely, performing carpet shampooing, floor steaming, flipping mattresses, HVAC vent detailing, and minor repairs. Additional tasks cover changing light bulbs, minor plumbing, landscaping upkeep, snow shoveling, and emptying trash receptacles. The role also involves quarterly preventive maintenance and operating power equipment like washers and mowers.

Employees report issues beyond scope to supervisors and notify management of major repairs needed for lighting, heating, or ventilation. No supervisory responsibilities are involved, but assistance with other duties as assigned is expected. Customer complaints are reported promptly while providing friendly service.

Requirements

General maintenance and custodial experience preferred
Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude
Must be flexible with the ability to adapt to change when required
Demonstrates excellent communication skills
Must be well groomed and properly attired
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and any shift needed
Must have reliable transportation and phone
Must be able to communicate in English

Responsibilities

Receives, processes and completes maintenance requests from the front desk and management in a timely manner
Performs detailed cleaning in guest rooms and common areas including carpet shampooing, floor steaming, flipping mattresses, HVAC vent detailing, light fixture cleaning, wall and baseboard scrubbing
Changes indoor and outdoor light bulbs as needed
Performs minor plumbing repairs in restrooms and guest rooms and routine general maintenance including painting
Maintains landscaping surrounding buildings, keeps parking lot, sidewalks and perimeter clean and free of litter and debris
Empties trash receptacles inside the building and around the property perimeter
Completes preventive maintenance for all rooms on a quarterly basis and documents per brand standards
Operates power equipment including power washer, mowers, and related tools
